Emergency Preparedness
What We Do
The BBVNA Emergency Preparedness Committee, established in February 2024 by Joan Thomas (Arroyo Chico), Linda Dugan (Exeter), and David Holder (Croyden), is to:
Increase our neighborhood resiliency in heat-related power outages, wildfires and air quality issues, water shortages, and flooding based on a model known as “Building a Resilient Neighborhood” (BaRN), which is currently used by Sam Hughes and other Tucson neighborhoods
Promote and develop communication networks with neighbor-to-neighbor connections on each street in our neighborhood, reaching out to neighbors and working with them to help the most vulnerable in an emergency
Establish individual or pairs of ”Block Connectors” on each street to act as distributors of information by knocking on doors
Discuss emergency preparedness, disseminate a Household Preparedness List, create email/texts lists with interested neighbors for purposes of communication and receiving updates
Questions or comments can be answered through the Committee’s email address: bbvnaemergencypreparedness@gmail.com
