4th of July Annual Parade

The annual July 4th parade and potluck is a longstanding neighborhood tradition. It has been done every year since the inaugural event in 1984. The parade starts at 7:30am on the corner of Arroyo Chico and Malvern, heads east along Arroyo Chico, north on Eastbourne, west on Exeter, and then south on Stratford back to Arroyo Chico and Malvern.

Marchers consist of neighbors of all ages, sporting patriotic colors, enjoying the casual walk together through the streets as patriotic music is played. Bikes, strollers, and dogs are also decked out in red, while, and blue, and vie for unique awards. Neighbors who don't walk the parade route can be found cheering from their front yards. A post-parade neighborhood potluck picnic rounds out the morning. This is a fun holiday tradition for adults and children alike.

Ice Cream Social (Malvern Plaza)

Who can turn down ice cream on a summer evening?! This is a social and fundraiser for the neighborhood's Historic Designation Project, and is held at the Malvern Plaza during the hotter months. A great social time, and an opportunity to get your questions answered about the historic designation plans for BBVN, all while enjoying ice cream!

Organized by Carina Brokamp, Kristy Lloyd, Darby Conroy, and Ann Pattison.

Oktoberfest

Our fall neighborhood potluck, complete with brats and good company. Always lots of fun!

Halloween Pre-Trick or Treat (Malvern Plaza)

Broadmoor-Broadway Village parents, let’s gather with our little Trick-or-Treaters before the ghosts and goblins are out and about. Come to Malvern Plaza to show off your costumes, enjoy hot cider and a snack, and have fun with a few (non-scary) Halloween-themed games.

Malvern Plaza can be the starting point of your Halloween evening, then fan out to enjoy all that our neighborhood has to offer.

Craft and Art Fair (Malvern Plaza)

Malvern Plaza comes alive with holiday cheer and decorations during the Craft and Art Fair, which features BBVN crafters and artists. It’s a great opportunity to support talented neighbors, and purchase beautifully handmade gifts for family and friends.

Organized by Jenniffer Funk Weyant (2015), Judy Nostrant (2016), and Norma Galindo (2017).

Citrus Harvest Share (Malvern Plaza)

A cool weather event, neighbors gather in the Malvern Plaza to share their excess citrus (and other backyard produce). It also serves as an enjoyable opportunity to mingle with one's neighbors. Frequently, hot beverages and homemade baked goods make an appearance.

Organized by Rita Toland and Suzie Husband.

Plant and Seed Share (Malvern Plaza)

Held in the spring, this extremely popular event brings many residents down to the Malvern Plaza with their excess plants, cuttings, and seeds to share with neighbors. It’s a great opportunity to pick up that perfect plant for your yard, and another opportunity to spend a lovely morning in the company of friends and neighbors. Organized by residents knowledgeable about native plants, there is frequently an educational component to the event, along with samplings of recipes made from our desert plants.

Organized by Justine Hernandez, Suzie Husband, Frank Segona, and Richard Roati.

Art and Garden Tour

BBVN has hosted several art and garden tours over the years, the most recent was on April 26, 2015.  Tucsonans were able to tour beautiful and unique Broadmoor gardens, which served as lovely backdrops to artwork produced by talented BBVN neighbors. Food trucks provided sustenance to all who attended.

The 2015 tour was organized by Justine Hernandez and Heather Free.

Porch Fest

Porch Fests have been springing up all across the country celebrating local neighborhoods and musical talent in a family-friendly environment. Musicians play on their own porch or on a friend/neighbor’s porch and the community meanders around the neighborhood listening to great music, dancing, and eating. Broadmoor Broadway Village neighborhood hosted a Porch Fest on September 28, 2014, thanks to the organization and hard work of many neighbors. It was an outstanding success!

Organized by Justine Hernandez and Heather Free.
